On the reliability of systems with switching lifetime distributions
In real systems components often work in essentially different operational modes, characterized by changing load or environment conditions. Those modes result in different failure rates and lifetime distributions. In this paper we present a model for a single switch-over between two distinct lifetime distributions. We consider two different cases of sticking together the distributions. Naturally our model can be generalized to multiple switching. As examples the single unit system and the l-out-of-2:G system are discussed at depth.
