Calculating Mean Life of Big Non-Repaired Electronics Systems
lt is shown that also the calculation of the mean life of a nonrepaired system, whose components lives are exponentially distributed, is simplified, if the fault tree contains modules, i.e. subtrees with private variables. Unfortunately, except for the simple series case, these modules cannot be used as entities but must be subdivided properly. Still a limited computational gain can be expected for the analysis of big electronics systems. (The limited usefulness of Bonferroni-type inequalities is demonstrated too.)
